Rockland County, NY is located 15 miles northwest of Manhattan and was a semi-rural area until the 1950s when infrastructure such as the Palisades Parkway and Tappan Zee Bridge were built and the idea of suburbia transformed the county. The Rockland County Volunteer Fire Services Museum depicts 200 years of fire service history including a horse-drawn steamer, hand drawn hose cart and several antique fire trucks.
